Monkey Wings — Classic Winged monkey head, warm cocoa palette, spiky hair tuft, wide toothy grin, closed happy-arc eyes. Monkey Wings
About

A control room for the CLIs you already use.

Monkey Wings is built by Rami Salem — a systems engineer who got tired of losing context every time he switched between Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, and OpenClaw. If the memory stays with the tool, the tool owns you. If the memory stays with the operator, the operator owns the tools.

The project runs sovereign-first, self-hosted, and MIT-licensed. It's designed to sit inside whichever coding CLI the operator prefers, and stay out of the way otherwise.

Principles

Six things we believe.

#01

Sovereignty first

You own the runtime. You own the memory. You own the keys. Nothing important leaves your machine unless you explicitly configure it to.

#02

Portability by design

The AI-coding-CLI ecosystem is fragmenting fast. Instead of picking a winner, Monkey Wings speaks every dialect — so switching CLIs never means losing your work.

#03

Open source, not open source-washed

The whole runtime is MIT-licensed on GitHub. No feature flags, no gated features. Paid tiers add convenience on top of the source; they never gate it.

#04

Local-first, cloud-optional

Everything works offline with Ollama. Cloud providers are supported first-class, but never required. Even hosted memory sync (Studio tier) is end-to-end encrypted.

#05

Reproducible operations

Every systemd unit, install script, and configuration file is committed to the repo. If you can't re-create the setup on a fresh box in ten minutes, we consider it a bug.

#06

Honest documentation

Our STATE.md file — the SSoT for the whole project — includes a live "Red Flags" list of unresolved issues. We'd rather ship the truth than pretend nothing's broken.

Timeline

How we got here.

  1. Jun 2026

    Project kickoff

Monkey Wings starts as a dashboard for OpenClaw. First control-plane MCP server ships.

  2. Jun 24, 2026

    Multi-agent orchestration

Architect / Builder / Researcher / Critic / Validator subagent roles activated. Rotation pipeline design begins.

  3. Jul 3, 2026

    Portability roadmap

Formal decision: Monkey Wings is a portable tool that lives inside host CLIs, not a competing runtime.

  4. Jul 4, 2026

    Three-feature shipping milestone

Custom prompts + memory graph + portable RuntimeAdapter all ship on the same day. First live end-to-end verification.

  5. Jul 5, 2026

    Ecosystem-wide install

Six install paths → eight. Skill registration for Codex CLI + universal agentskills.io fallback. Native desktop app for Linux + macOS + PWA.
